TEBA had the honor to welcome a delegation from the European Chamber of Commerce Taiwan (ECCT) during their visit to Thailand between 23-24 April 2015. Annually, the ECCT organizes a trip to a selected country to visit their partners in European Business Organizations (EBO) Network and their respective company counterparts.
The ECCT delegates
The ECCT delegates were led by Mr. Freddie Hoeglund, ECCT CEO and Mr. Bernd Barkey ECCT Chairman, Managing Director, Robert Bosch Taiwan, and joined by Mr. Giuseppe Izzo, ECCT Vice Chairman, General Manager, STMicroelectronics, Co-chair, ECCT Technology Committee, Mr. Olivier Rousselet, ECCT Vice Chairman, Country Manager, BNP Paribas, Mr. Helmut Bolt, ECCT Director, Chief Representative, Thyssenkrupp and Mr. Marcus Clinch, Co-chair, ECCT Beverage Alcohol Committee, Of Councel, Eiger Law.
The delegates joined a series of TEBA activities, including the Breakfast Briefing on Energy Efficiency and the World Class Automotive Supplier (WCAS) seminar on Lean Manufacturing: East Meets West. We were honored by Mr. Bernd Barkey, ECCT Chairman, Managing Director, Robert Bosch Taiwan, to speak at our Breakfast Briefing on ‘Low Carbon Initiative’, which was recently launched by the ECCT to promote European best practices to lower carbon emission in Taiwan. Mr. Bernd also shared his insights on ‘ECCT Automotive Committee: Taiwan Industry and Advocacy Synopsis’ at the WCAS seminar, which run by TEBA Automotive Committee.
In this occasion, the ECCT met with Dr. Chaiyant Savanachai, TEBA new Executive Director and TEBA board members: Joerg Laatsch, Vice President, Continental Automotive, Hugh Vanijprabha, Managing Director, Rolls-Royce (Thailand), Segsarn Trai-ukos, Country Director, Michelin Siam and Joseph Hong, Managing Director, Robert Bosh (Thailand) to discuss about Thailand’s business climate and to exchange best practices with TEBA. A special guest speaker, Mr. Guil Silva, CFA Head of Markets and Treasurer, HSBC (Thailand), was also invited to share his view on ‘Thai Banking and Financial Sector: Challenges and Opportunities’ to the group.
TEBA and the ECCT delegates also had an opportunity to visit the EU Delegation for updates on business climate in Thailand and Taiwan and to discuss challenges that both countries face.
