Thai-European Business Association (TEBA) Meets the Minister of Industry and Hosts Seminar on “Future Mobility in Thailand” at Motor Expo 2024

Bangkok, Thailand – December 2, 2024

The Thai-European Business Association (TEBA), in collaboration with the Motor Expo 2024 and leading European companies and investors in automotive industries, hosted a seminar and panel discussion addressing the future of mobility in Thailand with honorable attendance of H.E. Mr. Akanat Promphan, Minister of Industry. This insightful event discussed key topics such as European and Thai market dynamics, Electric Vehicle (EV) and E-mobility trends in Thailand and the region, and opportunities of European cutting-edge automotive technologies amidst trade and global challenges.

The event was a prime opportunity for industry leaders, policymakers, and enthusiasts to explore the future of Thailand’s automotive landscape while networking with key decision-makers and experts. More than 80 guests from public and private sectors joined the seminar with warm welcomes from Mr. Pierre Jaffre, TEBA President and the renowned speakers and panelists include: Ms. Renita Bhaskar, Minister Counsellor, Delegation of the European Union to Thailand, Mr. Wirat Tatsaringkansakul – Deputy Secretary General, Thailand Board of Investment (BOI), Mr. Martin Brengartner – CFO and Vice President, Mercedes-Benz (Thailand) Ltd., Mr. Joseph Hong – Managing Director, Robert Bosch Ltd, Mr. Gael Boussiere – Managing Director, Umicore (Thailand) Co., Ltd. The discussion was moderated by Mr. Stefan Heuer – Vice President Mobility Asia Pacific, TÜV Rheinland Ltd., and Mr. Krzysztof Tokarz – Senior Expert, ABeam Consulting (Thailand) Ltd.

The seminar also highlighted TEBA’s key recommendations from its White Paper on Future Mobility in Thailand 2024/2025, which advocates for a speedy and successful conclusion of the EU-Thailand Free Trade Agreement (FTA) to ensure a better level playing field for European businesses in Thailand and the region, continuous government support for e-mobility with adaptive measures, capacity building through higher education initiatives, promoting a circular economy for EV batteries, with an ultimate aim to enhance safe and secured Thai transportation systems for the benefits of Thai’s society and people.
