Leadership in Energy Innovation 2019 Thailand's Updated Power Development Plan: Energy Roadmap to 2037 Organized by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce Thailand Dear Friends and Colleagues, CanCham Thailand in collaboration with Chandler MHM, Ministry of Energy Belgium-Luxembourg, TEBA, Finnish, French, Irish, the Netherlands, Norwegian, Singaporean, South African, Swedish, and Joint Foreign Chamber of Commerce in Thailand would like to invite you to attend the insightful luncheon address “Thailand’s Updated Power Development Plan: Energy Roadmap to 2037” on Wednesday, March 6 at SO Sofitel Bangkok. Topic for Discussion Update to Thailand’s Power Development Plan (PDP) The PDP is part of the government’s long-term strategic blueprint for energy development and is generally updated every 3-4 years. The PDP outlines government policy priorities and allows the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) and government-owned utilities to implement concrete regulations and development plans. On January 23, 2019, the National Energy Policy Council (NEPC) approved revisions to the PDP. The revised PDP, which will cover a period from 2018 to 2037, reportedly contains several targets which are likely to raise the interest of private investors. The PDP presents numerous opportunities for private investors, including: Forecasted growth in renewables The PDP envisions renewables comprising 20% of the sources of energy feeding the grid by 2037, with an additional 10% of Thailand’s total energy supply coming from off-grid renewable sources. Increased demand for LNG Thailand’s reliance on natural gas as a fuel source for electricity generation will continue to rise over the coming two decades. New auctions for independent power producers (IPPs) The government’s long-term strategy involves the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) generating a smaller proportion of the country’s electricity. Keynote Speaker Dr. Veerapat Kiatfuengfoo is the Director Power Policy Bureau at the EPPO, Ministry of Energy. Dr. Veerapat was directly involved in preparing the update to the PDP. His speech will cover the updates to the plan, the direction of energy policy in Thailand generally, as well as what to expect from the Ministry of Energy in 2019 and beyond. Following the success achieved in 2018, the Workshop “Thailand: Path to Aerospace” makes its return with an enriched program to give its participants an even more comprehensive understanding on how to become a qualified aerospace supplier.The 2019 Workshop & B2B edition is co-organized by WHA Group and Italian Aerospace Network (IAN), co-promoted by the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM), Thai-European Business Association (TEBA) and Thai-Italian Chamber of Commerce (TICC) and honorably supported by the Eastern Economic Corridor office of Thailand (EEC) and the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT). The workshop program is specifically tailored to match the companies’ interests with internationally recognized experts to cover all of the main topics a company should consider when entering the aerospace industry. The B2B meetings’ session (20 minutes for each meeting) between pre-registered Thai delegates and speakers to create an initial point of contact and establish direct communication channel. Workshop Guidelines The morning session is dedicated to an insightful agenda of speakers who bring their know-how and experience to the participants. Key-areas of interest are then covered by selected international speakers who travel to Thailand from all over the world to: present the trends of the aviation and aerospace industry as well as specific opportunities for the companies in international markets (and how to grab them); provide an analysis of the management system related to aerospace industry that can increase the companies’ reliability in the process of becoming a strategic supplier; explain how to recruit and attract executives to manage aerospace programs, partnerships across the globe and make the companies a more experienced aerospace player; describe how to be aligned to the EASA approach in the quality and compliance monitoring system, initial airworthiness, continuing airworthiness, air operation, training, safety management system, avionic integrated system, maintenance, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO); engage the global forefront of technology with high-reliability solutions for safety critical applications, the emerging field of Internet of Things and the world of instrumentation for space and scientific applications. The morning session ends with a dedicated Q&A session. Speakers and participants take then part to a networking lunch.
